Dr. George Giannakas is the Coordinator of Natural Sciences Education, in the Regional Directorate of Education of Central Greece with responsibility in the regions of Phthiotida and Voiotia. Academically, he has a degree in Physics from Athens University, he holds a Master's degree (M.Sc.) in Electronics and Telecommunications from Athens University and he is a Ph.D. holder, name of thesis, “ Design of Integrated RF to DC Power Converters ”, from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in University of Thessaly. He is specialized in the design of CMOS analog circuits for RF energy harvesting and he is also, an ICT trainer in the Ministry of Education but also and in STE(A)M approaches (Arduino @ E-twinning, Scratch). He has taught 3 years in private education, 15 years in public secondary education and 22 years as a mentor teacher in universities, while for 5 years he has served as the head of LCNS (Laboratory Center of Natural Sciences) in Phthiotida’s region (experimental teaching of Physics, Chemistry and Biology) while he also was scientifically and organizationally responsible for the Observatory-Planetarium at Ypati-Municipality of Lamia (LCNS’s department). He has also served as the Director of the 1st High School of Lamia, before he took over the position of Coordinator, about 4 years ago. Today, he is the Head of the Directorate of Secondary Education in Evrytania, Central Greece. He designs and maintains websites (in Wordpress) mainly in his work. He supports the teachers of Natural Sciences, by seminars and webinars (e-learning and e-teaching), in his 2 regions of responsibility. He speaks English in an advanced level (C1-TOEIC).
